New Spinning projects

Wild Hare Studio silk in Celtic Forest. 2 oz, which I'm spinning on a Russian spindle. silk is so interesting to spin.

I finished the SCF batts. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out--335 yards of fingering weight  two ply, which is just right for my goal of spinning shetland for colorwork. It's a good start at least.

Heatwave singles

Fauxlags are fun to spin. And fast. I spun a quarter of them last night and the rest this evening. Ready to wind onto plying bobbins and then ply. Fun!
Spun them up, here they are hanging out to dry. A bit of a mess, but fun. 140 yards.
Next, Southern Cross Fibre batts, shetland and alpaca, 80/20 in sun-dried tomato.
done up in fauxlags, my next spinning project.

Birthday Cakes

Tomorrow, Sophia turns 13. Today we had a sledding party, with hot cocoa then pizza and cake, down at the Parker Pie.  Sophia made her own cakes.  The yarn is some minis I spun and chain plied on a drop spindle--so much fun. I'm working up a larger skein of the dark blue so I can work up something like a hat. Pictures to come.

chain ply on spindle

This is the leftover singles from the Figs colorway.  Actually, I started with these singles on a drop spindle, and then just chain plied them on another spindle.  I got about 22 yards of nice thick yarn.  Maybe a little baby hat? we'll see.
