Christmas Gloves

The red is handspun, the white is some undyed shetland w-ply that I've had for ages. These are quite large.

New spinning project

I've just started spinning some fiber I've been looking forward to for a long time. It's cashmere silk, 2 oz, from the Gossamer Web. This is very nice fiber, and a little challenging for me because the fibers are so short. That is why I'm spinning supported. The spindle is from Malcolm Fielding, and spins long enough that I can really work on my drafting and get a pretty good medium draw.   I had kind of moved away from supported spinning for a few weeks, and it's really nice to come back to it. I hope to fill four spindles with half an ounce each and then make a 2-ply.

Alpaca Silk--Handspun

360 yards of 2-ply, fingering/sport weight, Alpaca Silk from Gale's Art. I spun this from the fold on the CPW, which was very fast. I still have a lot to learn, but I love this yarn.

Handspun Hat and Cowl

Photos taken at night are always a bit iffy. The hat pattern is "Luuk", to which I added a pompom. The cowl is just a two color brioche stitch. Nothing fancy.  Both sparkle and are so fun. The fiber was from Dripping Fiber Studios.

Handspun teeswater cap

The white is undyed teeswater, the green/blue is SCF teeswater in "trooper" Both were spun on the CPW and 3-plied. Not a lot of yardage, but this yarn is wonderful to knit with. It has a lovely sheen and very smooth and soft hand. I'm so surprised and pleased with how this came out. The hat pattern is from "Hat's On" by Charlene Schurch.

Handspun Cowl

Fiber from Dripping Fiber Studios. I had about two ounces, two hundred yards of each color, and came up with this. It's about 48" around by 12 deep

Quantum shawlette finished

I just finished this shawlette, made from Southern Cross Fibres teeswater top dyed in the colorway "Quantum" and spun into something like sportweight singles, very low twist, 200 yards, of which I used 198.  Pretty nervous at the end there. This is much softer than I expected it to be. Very simple shawl with a basic lace edging.
