Silk and such

This is the last of the Gossamer Web silk in Ruby, which I started quite some time ago. I finished the first ounce in March, and had 225 yards of 2-ply.  This ounce came out to 220 yards of w-ply. I spun the singles on Tibetan style support spindles, and plied on my "new" wheel:
This wheel is going to take a bit of learning, but I'm so happy with it. Even with the drive band flying off repeatedly until I figured out that I needed to loosen up on the tension, plying went much much faster than it does on the Hitchhiker. No wonder--the fastest the Hitchhiker goes is 13 turns of the flyer to one turn of the wheel. The ratio for this wheel is more like 30 to 1.

And here are photos of the yarn I posted yesterday, only now it's been bathed:

Kilthose for a friend.

The pattern is He'mo Leanan Kilt Hose
The yarn is Paton's Classic Wool Worsted in gray. Really nice yarn for this project. The pattern calls for DK, but the worsted gives a nice dense structure, which I like.

There were a few tiny mistakes in the pattern. If you know how to knit cables and how to knit socks they won't bother you.
